9.01.02 Things you find near the border:Smuggling, federal agencies, border patrol, government corruption and drug cartel violence . Heres a story I found while seeking details on the douglas/a.p narcotunnel. I didnt find the details I was searching for ( I wanted to confirm the rumour that the tunnel was accessed under a pool table and while not in use, it filled up with water as a means of keeping it undetectable) but this was pretty interesting........ but not too surprising.

TORPEDOED G-MAN UNIT RISING LIKE PHOENIX FROM ITS ASHES A former Internal Affairs agent for the U.S. Customs Service has come forward to shine a light on a sordid tale of alleged law-enforcement corruption, cover-ups, drug trafficking and suspected murder. The former agent, Steven Shelly, is going public with his story because, he claims, no one in a position of power within law enforcement is listening. Shelly's story sounds like a bad rerun of history -- a repeat of the rampant police corruption that wracked gangland Chicago during the height of Prohibition. In fact, Shelly traces his troubles to his involvement in a corruption-busting task force whose members were dubbed by its founder as modern-day "Untouchables." In Shelly's version of the story, though, it is the G-men, not the crooks, who take it on the chin.

Sometimes you find something on the web that you MUST pass on. Do those signs on telephone poles drive you nuts? I call them telephone pole diets and telephone pole jobs. Rob Cockerham has done a great investigation into this scourge. Heres an excerpt...

"There are about 23,958 of these signs in Sacramento. That is an exaggeration, but they really are everywhere. They are nailed to telephone poles and zip-tied to chain-link fences. There are new designs all the time.  All of them have a mysterious lack of information regarding what company or scheme they are promoting....."
